nature walk

When the weather starts to turn cooler, we like to explore different areas of the lakefront. No crowds or sweltering sun. Montrose Harbor is really great because there is just loads to see.

The gently sloping grassy knolls where Mom makes you take a pupil burning picture.

The Bird Sanctuary.

We never make it all the way through because at least one of us chickens out.

The beach.

The path that takes you out to the breakwater. Bea has claimed that she is injured. Cordelia sat down to listen and comfort.

We went all the way out to the tip.

Sweet Coco bean pretending to need to hang on while the wind blew.

Picking flowers and dancing.

Coco Rose and Scott.

Filling up bags of leaves.

I wish I could remember what ridiculous thing she was saying. Probably something about being touched by nature's beauty.

ravenswood art walk

Ravenswood Art Walk was finally on a date that we could go. It was blustery as all heck though.

In one area, right by the beers, they had a kid zone. Snacks, crafts and balloons.

This was supposed to be where the entertainment was at "RAW detour", where the wide selection of local brews and whiskey would bring everyone together. But the unseasonably cool and windy weather only brought wide open space. Space for these ladies to let loose on their scooters.

There was some neat art, but things were definitely slowing down when we got there.

cornucopia fall fest

If it is fall or harvest related, sign us up! There was a cornucopia fall fest in town, with pumpkins, ponys and food trucks. Perfect for a quick little morning outing.

Cordelia was a little uneasy with the ponies. Plus it was freezing.

Bea was made to ride ponies and unicorns.

There was a little kid-friendly jam band. I suggested that they dance and move those bodies if they wanted to stay warm.

Before the food trucks, there was a fire truck. This was after much coercing. Then it was warm donuts time!

walk to end

Sunday was the walk to end alzheimer's at Montrose Harbor and we went to support some friends.

Cordelia does not care for containment.

Lots of friendly characters on such a gorgeous day.

When they had the chance to take a picture with BOTH Minnie and Mickey, it was as if they were ashamed. Not good enough. They couldn't bring themselves to look up at the camera.

There was also a sea of jumpies here. So we tried to burn some energy so they'd chill out in the stroller when the walk started.

This guy was great. Impressive dance moves and encouraging gestures.

And off we went, a slow start but things picked up. Beautiful day.

birthday party

We were lucky enough to celebrate Lucy's birthday. There was a face-painting, game-playing clown. And lots of little ladies for the girls to play with.

DEVOUR

new park

There's a new park in town and it's pretty great. Frankly I was really getting sick of the same ol' park that we usually go to. It is sooooo boring. But this one is a little bit different. A little bit more challenging for the kids, lots of different pieces of equipment, artificial turf and plen-ty of places for me to set my coffee and rear down.
